Lovely Flower Crochet Coaster

Pattern Instructions

• Before You Start
  This pattern is worked in a circle, joining each round before moving to the next one.
  If you’ve ever made a simple crochet circle, you’ll feel right at home.
  If your circle starts to curl or ripple, don’t worry — that’s totally normal. Just relax your hands and keep going.
• Make the Center of the Flower
  We’ll start by creating a small flat circle.
  1 : Make an adjustable loop (the kind that tightens when you pull the tail).
  2 : Chain two.
  3 : Work ten single crochet stitches into the loop.
  4 : Pull the loop tight and join to the first stitch to close the round.
  You should now have a small, neat circle — this is the very center of your coaster.
• Grow the Circle
  Now we’ll make the circle bigger so it stays flat.
  1 : Chain two.
  2 : Make two single crochet stitches into each stitch all the way around.
  3 : Join to the first stitch.
  Your circle should still lie flat. If it looks a bit wavy, that’s okay.
• One More Round for Size
  1 : Chain two.
  2 : In the first stitch, make one single crochet.
  3 : In the next stitch, make two single crochet stitches.
  4 : Repeat this pattern all the way around.
  Join to close the round.
  At this point, your circle should look smooth and flat — like a small coin.
  
  Optional Color Change
  If you want petals in a different color:
  - Cut your yarn now
  - Join the new color into any stitch
  If you prefer one color, just keep going.
• Create Spaces for the Petals
  Now we’ll prepare the base for the flower shape.
  1: Chain two.
  2: In the same stitch, make two double crochet stitches.
  3: Chain one.
  4: Skip one stitch.
  5: In the next stitch, make two double crochet stitches.
  6: Chain one.
  7: Repeat this all the way around.
  8: Join to close the round.
  You’ll notice small chain spaces forming — these will become the petals.
  
  
• Build the Petals
  Now we fill each space to form the flower shape.
  1: Join into the first chain space.
  2: Chain two.
  3: Inside the same space, make:
  - Two double crochet stitches
  - Chain two
  -Two double crochet stitches
  4: Move to the next chain space and repeat.
  5: Continue around and join at the end.
  You should now clearly see petal shapes forming.
• Finish the Flower Edge
  This final round gives the coaster its soft, rounded edge.
  1: Join into the first stitch of any petal.
  2: Chain one.
  3: In the same stitch, make five double crochet stitches.
  4: In the next stitch, make one single crochet.
  5: Repeat this around the entire coaster.
  6: Join, cut the yarn, and fasten off.
  Weave in your yarn ends.
  
  Your flower coaster is now complete!
  
  Finishing Touches
  - Gently shape the coaster with your hands.
  - If you want it extra flat, lightly steam it or press it under a cloth.
